d.d. collins house ...

On Saturday, Sept 24 ~

the historic D.D. Collins House, which has been restored, will officially open its doors to the public following a short program at the library and a ribbon cutting at the site. Beverages and sweets will be served in the plaza, under the tent, at Collins Park.

The program begins at 1:00; the ribbon cutting will happen between 2:15 and 2:30. All are welcome to this event.

While we still have a few floors to wash as well as windows to make sparkle, we will be staging this museum house this weekend with period appropriate antiques and accessories that have been acquired through the years - many of which have been donated by Collinsville families, who want their treasured heirlooms preserved and on display for others to witness and enjoy.

The Collinsville Historic Preservation Commission has been involved with the Collins House Project for some 17 years. This house is a great asset to our City and preserving the dwelling where village board meetings were first held and important decisions were made about the birth and nurturing of our community is a true preservation of our rich past.Come join us as we take a step back into history to experience life circa 1845-1870.

I look forward to seeing you and talking to you about the excitement of capturing and preserving the soul and spirit of this historic place.

~ Carolyn
