she’s at it again ~

i.e. more x-stitchin’ ...

You know how I always like to take a look at the backside before beginning the framing. Colleen’s are always as perfect on the backside as they are on the front, as shown by this photo. This cross-stitch image is for a little boy named Caleb, who lives in Texas, I believe. The stripe border was not an easy task from what Colleen described.

I wanted to show you the lacing technique to stretch the cross-stitch. Notice that the stitches are not lined up straight across. I do that so less stress is placed on the fabric.

With the centering and lacing complete, it’s time to cut mats. We chose a yellow-green inner mat to compliment the darker greens in the image. The middle mat is a bright gold to pick up the coloring in the giraffe. Finally the blue mat compliments the blues that are used in the stitching. I wanted to do something interesting with the outer blue mat, so I notched the corners. Notice that the notching goes well with the leaf image in each of the corners. They make the corners appear to be “notched” as well.

“All d” as Austin would say …

Colleen did not want the “new” big brother to be ignored, so she stitched a little guy for Logan. Because the image is in shades of blue, we chose blue for the inner mat as well as the frame. I

repeated the blue/white mat choices and created a happy little cut on the mats.

How fun!

I would love to feature photos of things that I have framed for you. Just email the image to me along with a little story, and I will publish it in the “archives” section of the website. It really is a lot of fun to share your projects with others; and others love to see what’s been done.
