I can hardly believe that I have been custom framing for 30 years. It has not only been fun; but it has been such an honor to frame the items that have been brought into The Art Loft Gallery, Ltd.
I especially enjoy working with antique pieces. They are so delicate that even looking at them presents a challenge. From designing, to measuring, to ordering, to building the frame, to cutting the mats, to cutting glass, fitting and wiring, it’s such a satisfying profession. I am very fortunate.
framing tip:
Do not spray glass cleaner onto the glass of framed artwork. The cleaner will run down between the glass and frame and will be wicked up by the mat. Eventually stripes in the same color as the cleaner will form on the face of the mat. Simply spray cleaner onto a soft cloth; wipe the glass and dry with a clean soft cloth.
The Art Loft Gallery, Ltd. has been an authorized Moss dealer since 1985. Applying for and receiving that dealership was probably one of the most important things that has ever happened to my business.
We have been fortunate to have perhaps 15 shows with Pat at the gallery over the many years we have been a dealer. She has created many local images especially for our shows. What fun that has been! We will also be hosting a Show With Pat in the early fall of 2016. Watch for details.
here’s an offer:
If you need something personalized for a special occasion, do not hesitate to contact me. I will request the personalization; but I do ask that you plan ahead and allow 4-6 weeks for the personalization to be done. Pat does the personalization when she’s in Mathews, VA; so if she’s on the road, we have to wait.
Even if you are not a collector of antiques, you owe it to yourself to come in to The Art Loft Gallery, Ltd. and look around as you will be fascinated by the vast and varied collection.
Only recently has The Art Loft Gallery, Ltd. become involved with antiques circa 1840s-1920s or thereabouts. It’s a rather involved story that I will not go into here; suffice it to say the antique collection has to do with an estate that my husband, the attorney, is probating.
The estate is being liquidated and, at the direction of the owner of the items, the money is being donated to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. I have been told by numerous people that the 1904 World’s Fair Collection and the Whaling Industry memorabilia is better than what can be found in many museums in both St. Louis and the Northeast.
